NYPA regularly monitors legislation which affects New York's community newspaper industry. NYPA subscribes to an online legislative monitoring program to track bills and prepare memorandums and briefs to various legislative committees. NYPA keeps a close watch on pending bills that may affect newspapers so you stay informed on legislative items critical to your business.

NYPA works closely with the National Newspaper Association and the Newspaper Association of America on federal issues, such as postal rates. NYPA also assists newspapers with open government issues, freedom of information problems, fair trial/free press questions, and legal notice publication requirements.
